Family Fun in Rosemont

Summer is transitioning quickly to fall, but the fun from summer doesn’t need to end. We had a super busy summer with a lot of traveling and experiences, and I wanted to be able to share these in a way that can be bookmarked and revisited for bucket list ideas. We live in the suburbs, and most of the fun requires a trip to the city, which can feel like a lot between driving and parking.

We got the opportunity to take the kids for a fun weekend away in Rosemont, and I was so impressed with how much there is to do in that area! We stayed at Loews Chicago O’Hare, and our room was gorgeous. We walked in to a table set up with milk and cookies for the boys, and they had a blast jumping on the bed and counting airplanes (yes, airlplanes — we had a prime view of the airport and got to watch a bunch of planes taking off and landing, which is pretty much every boy mom’s dream!)

In the evening, we took the boys to a Chicago Dogs Game! I ended up driving because I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the stadium is walkable from the hotel, too. We had the best view of the field in the Rivers Stadium Club, but truly, we walked around checking out the vendors and there’s not really a bad seat in the house!

The boys’ got special visits from the mascots, Catsup and Squeeze, and you can catch them walking around the stadium at every game. These games will resume again in the spring and go throughout the entire summer, with tickets starting at $9. We didn’t go until August, so next season I’m going to plan in advance and get plenty of reserved tickets so that we can frequent all season. It’s definitely worth making the trip, even if you’re not staying overnight.

In the morning, we had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and walked to the Fashion Outlets of Chicago (less than a 5 min walk, as it’s right behind the hotel). The shopping center offers a variety of stores that have something for everyone! There’s even a little Build-A-Bear kiosk, so the boys loved making a stop there to make some stuffed animals to-go!

We spent a lot of time hanging out in our hotel room, too, and we walked across the street later in the day to Bub City for some eats, but if BBQ isn’t your style, there’s TONS of other restaurants right in that same area.

If you’re looking for somewhere new to bring the whole family, definitely keep Rosemont on the mind. We had so much fun on our little weekend staycation, and we have since gone back to the area a couple of times to eat and play! As always, if you need any suggestions on fun things to do in the area, let me know and I’m happy to help share some of our favorites!
